Cottonsafe® bed mattresses have a trademarked fabric cover, which is naturally fire-retardant with NO ADD ON TREATMENTS such as FR COATING, CHEMICALS or ADHESIVES inside or on the outer cover of the mattress.

Cottonsafe® have worked collaboratively with one of the leading British cotton mills in order to develop an organic cotton quilted mattress which is naturally fire-retardant, without the use of any chemicals. To do this Cottonsafe® have blended a mixture of natural fibres including the best organic cotton and natural wool to produce this totally unique mattress. This breakthrough we call simply Cottonsafe® … safe for a lifetime.

Cottonsafe® only use top quality luxury fillings including extra thick layers of white wool and cotton, a luxury pocket sprung unit using Active Support Technology and a soft lambswool top to give you both a natural and safe layer and a totally luxury feel. Each unit is hand stitched around the edge in cotton rich filling. The Cottonsafe® bed mattress is handmade and quality assured by craftsmen in Devon and carries the “Cottonsafe®” brand with a 10 year warranty.

The excellent Cottonsafe® mattresses all have a signature chemical free Cottonsafe cover quilted with a layer of wool underneath. Each Cottonsafe® mattress is handmade to order and side stitched together with flax thread – they use no glues, solvents or adhesives. their craftsmen also hand tuft our mattresses with wool-felt.

Why use certified Organic cotton in the cover? Organic cotton uses far less pesticides and fertilisers than conventional cotton and it comes from original plants which are not genetically modified and have not been treated with chemicals during the processing and packaging, such as washes, bleaches, scents or colouring. Whilst organic cotton is more expensive than conventional cotton we feel that it is definitely worth it. Cotton is a very thirsty product but organic cotton uses less water due to the fact that most farmers use rain-fed watering rather than irrigated water which depletes groundwater sources. Water is a vital resource the world over.
