Lengths of horsetail are sorted according to their width and softness, and twisted into coils. When a mattress is made, the horsetail is hand-opened and teased, and hand laid among layers of natural filling.
Horsetail has been an assential element of upholstery in bed making for centuries. VI-Spring uses only the finest Moosburger horsetail for it's beds - the long, supple and silky hairs have an inherent strength and springiness that makes them the perfect filling. Adding horsetail to a bed is like giving it two million extra springs. the fibre won't break or lose its natural flexibility, and bounces back after compression to restore the integrity of your mattress following a night's sleep.
VI-Spring uses the finest European and South American horsetail in its beds. It is the only bed maker to use the world's finest Moosburger horsetail, sourced from a family run business in Austria. Mohair comes from the Karoo National Park in South Africa, a spectacular expanse of semi-desert and grassland that produces the finest mohair in the world. One of the oldest textile fibres in use today, this luxurious material is made from the hair of the Angora goat. Durable, resilient and exquisitely soft, it is also an excellent natural insulator; warm in winter, its moisture wicking properties keep it deliciously cool in summer to guarantee year-round comfort.
Wool - Britain's changeable climate produces wool that is uniquely soft, springy and strong. Coir found between the husk and the outer shell of a coconut, tough coir fibres add outstanding durability to the quality of VI-Spring's divan bases.
Cotton has been farmed since prehistoric times. Hundreds of years before the Christian era, cotton textiles were being produced with exceptional skill in India, from where they spread to Western Europe. The Turkish long-fibre cotton used by VI-Spring is incredibly soft and durable, with an unparalleled sheen. Bamboo - with its name meaning "reincarnation" in a Chinese dialect, bamboo has inspired myths and legends throughout Asia. Vicuna is a precious gift from the high Andean plateaux, vicuna wool is one of the most sought after and luxurious textiles in the world. Vicuna is absorbent, has excellent insulating properties and - being free of lanolin - is hypo-allergenic. Cotton Cambric has an extremely tight weave, and undergoes a calendering process to prevent the undesirable penetration of hair and fibres.
